Thanks for coming to my feedback site!!

Hi everyone !

I've created this site for you to give me feedback about my teaching, about our class, and/or any suggestions you have to make our learning experience richer and meangful.

Feel free to share with me anything you want me to know, it can be about our curriculum, or how I am teaching, how I am assessing, you name it! Posts can be anonymous or you can put your name to them. You decide. Also, please indicate to me in your post if you would like your comments to be posted or not; if not, after I read the comment I would delete it.

Of course, I know you all will be responsible and respectful about this space. You know what is most important to me: kindness to others, respectful of others' opinions and perspectives. We will be talking about this more in the future!!

Remember, the more I know about how you feel about my teaching and the class, the sooner I can react to your needs and the more meaningful your experience will be for everyone!

Thanks - Miss Whit

  1. Yay! first
ok... I think this is a big idea. we can do lots of stuff on this
like take home meetings or help
    my feedback:
I feel great... this is the best math class I've had in my life. Maybe just have the quizzes right after we learned them. I know many people who would have done better if we did the quiz after we learned the material.

  2. Ms.Whit's Algebra II class was the best class I've ever had. I've been getting help in Algebra/II ever since summer after 8th grade. I've never been able to get the concepts until I had Ms. Whit in 10th grade. Her happy positive outlook made me what to learn math and I finally understood all the concepts in Algebra II. Thanks Ms.Whit for all your support !

  3. This class is one of the greatest classes i've ever taken. Ms. Whit is truly one of the most dedicated math teachers, excuse me, teachers, that i've ever had. She was willing to work, and did work, on a Sunday for hours with one of her students who missed a few days of class. Never have I seen such a teacher so dedicated to her students ever before.

Also, her fun way of teaching and jokes pushes her students to impress her and work for her, as well as themselves. While some students don't care about math and learning in any sense, while taking her class, if I were to not do my work, I not only hurt myself, but feel that I would be disappointing a teacher who puts so much into what she does.

If anyone sits in a few of her classes, she can convince many that teaching really is one of the most rewarding professions out there.

  4. Ms. Whit is very helpful when I meet with her during free periods to go over some concepts I do not fully understand. She helped me understand Logs and Exponentials better when we met a few times. Thanks!

  5. Hello! In the spirit of the previous posts I really think Ms. Whit is the one of the most helpful, dedicated teachers I have had. I honestly have been thinking all weekend of any sort of constructive feedback I could give but I really can't. You can tell that everyone in our class works hard and knows the material due to Ms. Whit. I have one comment though- In class, we talked about a BC calc only blog email that you sent us, but I checked my email a bunch of times and I didn't receive it- Could you post the address here and/or send the email to me again? Thanks!

I will also put this address on my webpage!

Thanks for all the comments - remember that you can respond to each other as well as to me. This is an online communication/dialogue tool we all can access and use to make our experience the best it can be!

Enjoy the sunshine - see you all tomorrow! Thanks again for your respect, honesty and especially for your kindness.

    Fondly, Miss Whit

  7. I really enjoy Algebra II this year, and math has usually not been a class I enjoy. Following what Adam said, it is very true, that when I consider maybe going to sleep instead of doing my math homework, I tend to care more about disappointing Ms. Whit than myself. I'm not an overly conscientious person, but Ms. Whit's class has really been a pleasure for me this year.

  8. I think that math became easier this year. I know I could go to Ms. Whit anytime I had a problem with anything and she is so easy to talk to! She makes Algebra II seem so easy and her explanations always make sense. I'm really happy to have her as my teacher this year. Thanks, Ms. Whitney!

  9. Ms. Whitney teaches what I would call the hardest course I've encountered so far at Shady Side, but all the help I have received from her has made this a really pleasant and extremely educational experience. She knows exactly how to help me grasp a concept better, and i always leave meetings with her feeling more confident on the subject. Now with the installation of this blog it will be so much easier to receive peer review while at home. The idea of this was so great, and i really look forward to using it often to better not just mine, but everyone's learning experience.

  10. Even though I used to be morally against math class, Ms. Whitney actually makes the class fun and easy. The Exeter packet may not be my favorite way to learn, but at least at the end of the day I understand all the concepts, and I know that if I don't I will be able to see her and she will help.

  11. This year, Algebra II is taught in a different way than most math classes that ive had. Class is different, but discussing the problems with group or on the board really helps me to understand the material. The classroom atmosphere is great. I like using the packet instead of the textbook. This way of learning makes it interesting even though the problems can be difficult.

  12. Algebra II has been challenging for me this year, but Ms. Whitney has always been willing to explain concepts which I do not understand. Her willingness and excitement to help me with simple problems has made her feel more like a friend helping me with my homework rather than a teacher. Although my classmates and I detest the dreaded take home quizzes and the very challenging tests, I know that by this June we will leave the classroom with much more knowledge and understanding of Algebra II than we had last September.

  14. Hey, Ms.Whit I truly enjoyed having you as a teacher this year. Your math class was the best math class i've ever been in. You should continue the way you run your class and the way you teach the cirriculum. NOW THE WHOLE POLE IDEA IS A MATTER FOR DISCUSSION!!!

  15. Thanks for these kind and sensitive comments. But, I have a question: WHAT IS THE "WHOLE POLE" IDEA???

  16. Miss Whit,
I really like the way the curriculum works with the packet this year because it forces everyone to be involved all of the time. This makes our class more fun and seems to help me understand new concepts. I feel like I have learned a lot so far this year in Algebra II.

By the way, I think the WHOLE POLE is a reference to the flagpole in front of Rowe.

  18. Ms. Whit has been my teacher for the past two years, and both of the classes have been excellent. She is dedicated and cares about all of her students, always making sure that they are on track with the work. I always feel comfortable going to Ms. Whit for help when needed, and I really have felt like my math skills have improved this year because of her. I now feel more confident about my math abilities and I am truly excited to come to class every day. Thank you!

  19. I can remember when Mii Whit was lying on the hall floor, banging her fists into the carpet, because she didnt "get" word problems. I kept saying "keep plugging at it ." As her father, I found that over the years, it all worked.
